About Cakes of Distinction
Cakes of Distinction is run by Melissa Pasley, who has over ten year experience in cake design. Her qualifications include a Diploma in Sugarcraft from Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies. She has achieved ten different awards at national and international level for her cake designs including two gold medals.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party - Bronze Medal
This creative centerpiece based on the Mad Hatter's Tea Party from Alice In Wonderland was awarded a Bronze Medal at Cake International 2009 at the National Exhibtion Centre, Birmingham, UK
Christmas Tree - Siucra Perpetual Trophy
Royal iced christmas tree was awarded with the Siucra Perpetual Trophy and a silver medal at the Cork Sugarcraft Association's National Competition in April 2007
Bertie Bassett - Gold Medal - Le Salon Culinare
This 18" high Bertie Bassett cake was awarded a Gold Medal and Best in Class at the international Le Salon Culinaire in London.
Pyramid Panel Cake - Gold Award
This innovative pyramid cake was awarded Gold at the Cork Sugarcraft Show. The three sided royal iced cake is surrounded by delicately piped panels. These panels float above the cake and incorporate a floral design.
Christmas Cake - Silver Medal
The royal iced hexagon cake christmas cake was awarded a silver medal at Cake 2006 in National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. The hollow centred cake was enclosed in a cake made from royal icing which featured a continuous holly pattern.
Butterfly Panel Cake - Silver Award
The royal iced panel cake with butterflies was awarded silver at the British Sugarcraft Guild Exhibition in Telford. This hexagon shaped cake incorporated two sets of surrounding panels featuring different butterflies found in the British Isles.
Minature Baby Cube - Silver Medal
This 6" miniature baby cuby was awarded a silver medal at the Heart of England Salon Culinaire. Each side of the cube features an inner runout panel surrounded by the outline of a letter. Each letter matched is corresponding picture, e.g. A for Airplane
Royal Iced Celtic Cross - Bronze Award
The celtic cross achieved a bronze award at the Cake and Sugarcraft Show in Birmingham. The design incoporated a shaped royal iced cake surrounded by white panels made from run-out icing. The panels feature celtic knotwork and joined together seemlessly in the shape of a celtic cross
Sun, Moon & Stars - Award of Merit
This innovative design recieved an Award of Merit at Le Salon Culinaire in London. The eight sided cake is surrounded by a cage of stars hand piped with royal icing. The stars cast a patterned shadow on the cake. The outer panels complete the theme of the cake with a large star, cresent moon and bright sun all made from run-out icing
Cadbury's Parrot - Award of Merit
18" model of Cadbury's Parrot achieved an award of merit at the Heart of England Salon Culinaire in Birmingham.
